Iko Uwais in The Expendables 4, Gina Carano in a Western, Tak Sakaguchi in a Thriller

Совсем недавно мы wondered, who will play in the new "The Expendables" the main villain, because the name of this actor should have weight in the action genre. We didn't have to wait long.

The main antagonist was a 38-year-old Indonesian Iko Uwais (the “Raid” duology), which, by the way, was very unexpected news. News agency insiders Deadline The character of Yuwais is described as a former military officer who became an arms dealer and maintains an entire army.

Let us remember that the film "The Expendables 4" will be a kind of spin-off of the character Jason Statham named Lee Christmas. A former stuntman is at the director's helm Scott Waugh (“Need for Speed: Need for Speed”).

In addition to Statham, they returned from the original franchise to their roles Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture и Arnold Schwarzenegger. Among the “newcomers” in the fourth film were: Megan Fox (Transformers franchise), Andy Garcia ("Ocean's Eleven") Fifty Cent (Escape Plan trilogy), Jacob Schipio ("Bad Boys for Life") and Tony JAA (Ong Bak trilogy), with whom Iko Uwais already worked together in an action movie "Triple Threat" (2019)

"The Expendables 4" is in the active stage of filming, on which the mastermind of the franchise has already worked Sylvester Stallone. The film is expected to be released, most likely, at the end of 2022.

Former mixed martial arts star and actress Gina Carano (“Deadpool”, “Salvation”, the TV series “The Mandolorian”) has been assigned to the next project. We just recently wrote that she will take part in a thriller based on the novel "White Fist", but now Carano is added to the expected films "Terror on the Prairies" (Terror on the Prairie).

By genre, director's future film Michael Polish (“Only for Lovers”, “The Power of the Elements”) will be a western in which, in addition to pistol duels, hand-to-hand combat is also planned.

The story follows a pioneer family on the Montana plains as they fight back against a band of vicious outlaws terrorizing them on a newly built farm.

It is interesting that Carano is accompanied by an MMA star Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone (“Under Attack,” “Spencer’s Justice”) and star of cult action films of the 80s and 90s Matthias Hughes (“Angel of Darkness”, “Mission of Justice”, “Claws of the Eagle”), with which, by the way, a western should also be released soon "Assault on Rio Bravo".

According to foreign sources, filming is already underway and "Terror on the Prairies" should appear in the second half of 2022.

Fans of the talent of the Japanese action movie star Taka Sakaguchi (“Confrontation,” “Shinobi,” “Kingdom”) can once again rejoice and be patient, as the actor’s next solo project has been announced.

It was an action thriller with a strange name "One Percent" (One Percenter) directed by Yudai Yamaguchi, who can be called a completely controversial filmmaker, the quality of his work varies from project to project. Yamaguchi is Taka's great friend and together they made several films: "Hell's Baseball" (2003) "Pitchy mess" (2005) "What Girls Want" (2009) "Gopnik-transformer" (2011) and "Deadly Ball" (2011)

Nothing is yet known about the plot of their sixth film together, but there is a very dark teaser poster for the future action film.

But in some century, it will not be Sakaguchi himself and his team who will be responsible for the action, but Kensuke Sonomura (“Machine Gun Girl,” “Bushido”), who has worked on action sequences in more than 70 projects. By the way, last year Sonomura presented his directorial debut to the world "Hydra".

Nothing more is known about the project, but we will keep our finger on the pulse. In the meantime, we are all waiting for Taka Sakaguchi a loose short sequel to his hit "Confrontation" (2002) entitled "Musou's Cruelty", but the film's release date has not yet been announced.
