Jake Jellenhaal in the remake of Road House, Matthiaz Hughes in the sequel to Angel of Darkness, Gary Daniels in the comic

Rumors that Hollywood bosses want to make a remake of the cult action movie "House by the Road" (Road House) starring Patrick Swayze began circulating in the early 2015s. There was a feeling that the project got off the ground in XNUMX - then announced the that the main character of the film would be a woman and she was to be played by a former UFC champion Ronda Rousey. But even then the project did not work out.

Today, there's talk of a new take on the classic 1989 story about bouncer Dalton, who must restore order to the troubled Double Shot bar.

According to the Deadline, the director of the future remake may become Doug Liman (“Mr. and Mrs. Smith”, “A Game Without Rules”, “Edge of Tomorrow”), and the main role is tipped for not just anyone, but an American movie star Jake Gyllenhaal ("Source Code", "Live", "Spider-Man: Far From Home").

However, there is still no exact information about the signing of one or the other. It’s worth mentioning that the director and actor’s schedule is quite tight, and even if they are signed to this project, it’s unlikely that filming can start before 2023.

If anyone is suddenly unfamiliar with one of the best action films of the 80s, here is the trailer for the original. Well, those who know, remember and love the old "House by the Road", they can speculate in the comments to the material whether they would like a remake and with what cast?

Remember we wrote about a possible sequel to a pretty cool sci-fi action movie from the late 80s "Angel of the darkness" (today the film is often called "I come in peace") starring Dolph Lundgren? Now we’ve already forgotten, but the actor in the main negative role Matthias Hughes remembered.

He has been talking for a long time and everywhere about the fact that he has a ready-made script in his hands, written by himself, and that it can make an excellent movie. Previously in the sequel "Angel of Darkness" Russian filmmaker was interested Alexander Nevsky, but his interest disappeared somewhere. However, Hughes himself continues to look for investors for his film.

To do this, Matthias recently teamed up with a German martial arts genius, stuntman, actor and stunt coordinator Mike Moeller, and they released a preview of sorts for the action scenes for the upcoming project.

We can say that the production looks quite good and even 62-year-old Hughes seems to feel comfortable here. Let's hope the guys find funding. Well... or at worst, they will make a good and atmospheric short film.

Well, while we wait from the British martial artist and action star of the 80s and 90s Gary Daniels (“Blood Moon”, “The Expendables”) his new films "Gardener", "Bring Him Back Dead" и "Bad reputation" (although there is no word or breath about the latter), a new project with Gary in the leading role has become available.

True, we are talking about a series of graphic novels called "Rivals" (Rivals), which was launched thanks to companies on Kickstarter. The project is handled by the director/screenwriter Mike Clark (Carly series) and director/artist Paul Gerrard, who drew concept art for such Hollywood projects as "Gods of Egypt" (2016) "Robin Hood: The Beginning" (2018) "Hellboy" (2019), for the series "In the Desert of Death" and many others.

The creators of the comic admit that rivals is a declaration of love to the cult works in the genre of horror and sci-fi action of the 80s.

World "Rivals" - it's a cross "Conan the Barbarian" и "Mad Max", in which the main character is the mysterious warrior Sago Astar. He has the appearance of an elderly man Gary Daniels, who, nevertheless, is in excellent physical shape.

So far, only the first stories in a series that is planned to be quite extensive have been released. Additionally, Clarke and Gerrard are talking about developing a web series based on their own comic, starring Daniels.

Well... let's hope so, because Gary's character looks pretty cool in the pages of the graphic novel!

I don’t want to watch “Angel of Darkness” without Lungren at all, because in my opinion it was he who pulled out the whole film. “Roadhouse” would be a pleasure to watch, but I can’t imagine Gyllenhall as Dalton. Patrick Swayze was captivating because he didn’t fit into the stereotyped image of a bouncer. We should call Iko Yuwais for his role. With all due respect to Daniels, I haven’t expected anything from him for a long time, I don’t feel like watching, although he looks great for his age. But it’s just being filmed in a completely uncomplicated piece of junk.

      Dmitriy,

Yuwais's face is too childish for him to play a tough but fair bouncer.
