However, it became known that Yen was assigned one of the main roles in the film adaptation of the 1963 Chinese wuxia bestseller "Demi-Gods and Half-Demons". For this purpose, Donny once again teamed up with the famous Chinese film maker Won Jing, with whom they worked together on films such as "Chasing Dragons" (2017) "Exit the Fat Dragon" (2020) and "New Kung Fu Master" (2022). The duo's new film will be called "Shakra" (Śakra) and will produce it himself Donnie Yen.

The hand-to-hand action hero will play martial arts master Qiao Feng, one of the central figures in the novel's story universe. The actor thinks "Shakru" the start of a potentially successful franchise, as many of the book's storylines and compelling characters are ripe for further novel adaptations.

It is known that filming of the wuxia epic is scheduled to begin in July 2022, and a theatrical release is planned for Chinese New Year. It is also said that Wong Jing's production company Plus Entertainment Limited will distribute the film worldwide. For now, there is only a teaser poster for the upcoming project.

Martial artist, actor and director Wang Baoqiang (the duology “The Ice Comet”, “And the Monk Came Down from the Mountains”, “The Last of the Best”) is going to stage an MMA drama called "Inside the Octagon" (In The Octagon).

It is curious that the plot of the future film is based on a real story about a former policeman from Tibet who opened a gym under the Endo MMA brand in the city of Chengdu only to train orphans there for free and protect them from a life of crime.

The film is being produced by several serious companies at once: Wuxi Baotang Film Co., Tumusuke Sunflower Film Co., Tianjin Maoyan Weiying Culture Media Co.and Beijing Lehua Film Co. Baoqiang himself will not only direct the film, but will also play the main role in it. It is known that he will be accompanied by actors San Xun (“Island”) and Chen Yushen (“Snipers”).

The film is scheduled to begin filming in the summer of 2022. However, the release date has not yet been announced.

At the recent Film Market in Cannes, it became known that the British martial artist and actor had acquired another project Scott Adkins, who has once again teamed up with a niche film director William Kaufman ("Sinners and Saints", "Marine 4", "End of the Day").

Adkins and Kaufman already have a joint project "Jarheads 3: Under Siege" (2015), fans of Scott’s work are also expecting their joint action movie, announced a couple of years ago "Vigilante". The duo's new film is called "Cruelty in Action" (Violence of Action).

The upcoming film will tell the story of a former Navy SEAL tormented by a decision he once made in Afghanistan. Now he is trying to live a normal life, but his peace is disturbed by a gang of drug dealers terrorizing his area.

From the available information it is known that Scott Adkins (Undisputed franchise) will be composed by an American actor Cam Gigandet (“Twilight”, “Pandorum”, “Shepherd”).

It is still unknown when the filmmakers will begin filming and when the action movie is planned for release.
