Cannes Film Festival 2017, which is taking place with 17 on 28 yeast, presents various Movie News. Of their huge number, there are also those that fit the theme of our site.

Action drama called "Predawn Prayer" (A Prayer Before Dawn) directed by Jean-Stéphane Sauveur (“Johnny – Mad Dog”) was included in the program of night screenings at the Cannes Film Festival. The film was shot by a duo of French-British filmmakers, but the company A24 at EFM bought the rights to demonstrate the film in North America.

There is already an official synopsis for the film “Predawn Prayer”: a British guy named Billy ends up in one of the harshest prisons in the world - Klong Prema, which is located in Thailand. This prison is known for its cruelty to prisoners. But Billy refuses to rot in this prison and decides to study the deadly martial art of Muay Thai. This allows Billy to go from being a downtrodden prisoner to true redemption.

It turns out that this film is based on real events, and the script is based on an autobiography Billy Moore 2014 release. The book was adapted by two screenwriters: Jonathan Hirshbein ("Crossfire") and Nick Saltrez (TV series “A Purely English Murder”).

The main role in the film was played by a Briton Joe Cole (“Dangerous Dive”), and he will be accompanied by: Vithaya Pansringarm ("Ninja 2"), Nicholas Sheik (“Dorm Trouble 2: Semester at Sea”) and others. He played one of the roles himself. Billy Moore.

It is not yet known when “Predawn Prayer” will be released in wide release or appear on media.

Seem to be, Richard Chamberlain ("Shogun") and Tom Cruise ("The Last Samurai") will have to move forward a bit as the production company Lionsgate announced the production of the film "Black Samurai" (Yasuke), which will be based on the seemingly true story of a black samurai in the setting of Japan in the mid-1500s.

According to the resource Deadline, the plot of the film will unfold around a man named Yasuke, whose life the viewer will follow from his early years until the moment when the black swordsman ended up in the army of Oda Nabunaga himself. Yasuke is believed to be the only black man in feudal Japan to achieve the rank of samurai.

It remains to add that this “Black Samurai” has nothing to do with the series of books Mark Alden, on which the film of the same name was based Jim Kelly 1977 and according to which series is being prepared with a rapper common starring.

Nothing more is known about the project. We'll keep our finger on the pulse, because the film could turn out to be very interesting. Moreover, the adventures of the black samurai have already been captured in the animated mini-series "Afro Samurai" joint American-Japanese production. Then the role of the main character was voiced by the omnipresent Samuel L. Jackson.
