While searching for fresh information about the film “Merantau”, I came across an interesting video. It turns out that based on just one hand position you can make a completely acceptable combat system.
It differs from all other systems in that it is created on the basis of movement from silat. It is a bit like scratching the head with the hand, with the elbow pointed forward, and is designed to protect the head, parry attacks and strikes with the elbow. The authors called this concept “pensador” (Spanish for “thinker”) because the position of the hands is somewhat reminiscent of Rodin’s famous sculpture. The position of the hands is interesting because, in fact, it is instinctive, because this is the way a person who is being beaten tries to defend himself.
Justo Dieguez and Andy Norman called their invention the “Keysi Fighting Method” (KFM) and call it dirty boxing, born on the streets of Spain, designed to fight several opponents at the same time.
