20 minutes 3D in a True Legend

“True Legend” will have two scenes, at the “rock of a thousand Buddhas” and in the “cave of a thousand snakes,” filmed in 3D, with a total duration of about 20 minutes. Both scenes used different 3D technologies, and the final battle between Zhao Wen Zhuo and Andy On in the “cave of a thousand snakes” looks significantly better, with sharper, more tangible images and XNUMXD effects, as well as better fights.

“Rock of a Thousand Buddhas” is a fictional place where Beggar Su (Zhao Wen Zhuo), under the guidance of White Beard (Gordon Liu) and through training matches with the Master of Martial Arts, improves his fighting skills. This scene may well be annoying for viewers as it is occasionally interrupted by scenes filmed in 2D and they will have to constantly remove and put on 3D glasses.

But why isn't the entire film shot in 3D? Director Yen Woo Ping explains it this way:

Creating a 3D film requires spending a large amount of human and material resources. Over 3 digital effects specialists worked tirelessly on these two 100D fight scenes for more than six months. Initially, I hoped to make a full-fledged 3D film, but the budget would have grown to an astronomical amount from 200 to 300 million dollars, and I would have to spend more than 5 years on post-production. Therefore, I chose the two most important action scenes for XNUMXD effects.

Yen Woo Ping should have taken a cue from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which was shot in 2D and then converted to 3D for the $10 million spent on both parts.

The script, written by Du Zhi Lang, follows the tried-and-tested kung fu genre and is somewhat similar to Fearless, which she also wrote.
